The many unlockable combos and trophies provide some replay incentive, and the combat is surprisingly fun to come back to even after you've beaten the game. Though it may be shallow, overpriced, and likely to disappoint anyone hoping for more weighty fare, Watchmen: The End Is Nigh is ultimately a simple, well-crafted game that will please those looking to dish out some good old-fashioned beatdowns.

While there’s somewhere about three hours of game to be played (maybe more if you choose to replay the game with both heroes), it basically boils down to the same 30 minutes repeated across six chapters. Still, if your tolerance for repetition is high, or you’re just looking for some mindless beat ‘em up action you can play with a buddy, The End is Nigh could be just what you’re looking for.

The real breaking point for this innocuous title is the price tag. Yes, Watchmen is one of the best looking downloadable games we’ve seen on a console (even if the lighting takes the murky color palette to nearly opaque darkness), and yes, the voice acting and production values are impressively high-end. Still, paying $20.00 for such a shallow experience just doesn’t seem right
