About this game

Content Rating: Mature

This game in the Chronicles of Riddick franchise puts players into the role of enigmatic anti-hero Riddick. A hi-def re-imagining of the blockbuster 2004 game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena follows up the story from the original game title as Riddick must now flee the Dark Athena, following his harrowing escape from the notorious Butcher Bay prison. During the adventure, Richard B. Riddick must escape the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena using stealth and action to overcome its merciless crew and challenge the nefarious Captain Revas.

In the end, AODA is a great package well worth its asking price. Getting two excellent single-player campaigns as well as a sizeable online offering should please fans of the original game and newcomers alike. While there are some minor graphical issues that can be found throughout both games, they thankfully never adversely affect the gameplay.

The Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena is a compelling package that mixes shooting, stealth and adventure. Sadly, its shortcomings lie in vague and archaic mission structuring which will leave you confused too often.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is many things: an attractive rerelease of an amazing game, a mildly disappointing sequel, and a forgettable online experience. If you haven't played Butcher Bay, it's a must-play. If you have, be aware of the sequel's abundant shortcomings before making a purchase. Nevertheless, though the new content lets in far too much sunlight, those that crave the darkness will still find plenty of inky crevasses in which to lurk.
