Each individual game can wear thin after extended play and may not be something you want to play for hours at a time, but there's so much variety between them, and so many options with which to customize your experience, that they can easily become a regular activity at friendly gatherings. Like darts or foosball, they may not be something to base an entire party around, but they're welcome diversions that anyone can enjoy, making Sportsfriends an easy recommendation provided you've got friends and controllers.

While some games are stronger than others, they each create situations befitting a gathering of friends: BaraBariBall inspires trash talk, Hokra challenges you to coordinate with your team while your enemy can listen in, Pole Riders encourages players to embrace silliness and loosen up, and Joust will take you back in time to playing tag on the playground.

The complete Sportsfriends package suffers from very few pitfalls, with the major ones coming from the lack of online connectivity (for sharing Hokra levels) and no ability to save your previous option selection. All in all, if you’ve got the option to have two or more people in the same room with your PS3 or PS4, as my co-op buddy said, you owe it to yourself to have this title on your console.
