About this game

Content Rating: Mature

It's been 6 months since Dubai was wiped off the map by a cataclysmic sandstorm. Once the world's most fantastical city, Dubai is now its most opulent ruin. Ravaged by cataclysmic sandstorms, the city lies buried, reclaimed by the desert. Abandoned, it has become a no-man's-land for refugees and outlaws. While most people fled the now-barren wasteland, U.S. Army Colonel John Konrad and the 33rd Infantry remained behind to protect those incapble of escape. Unable to contact anyone in Dubai, the world believed Konrad and his team dead, until they picked up a weak distress signal. As Captain Walker, you and your squad of Delta Operators infiltrate the trecherous region to locate survivors.

Despite criticism in all other departments, the gritty story supersedes the game's mediocrity elsewhere, and finally delivers something outside the box. It dives into a disturbing realism that war, racism, and the psychological repercussions that could ensue, going far beyond the dramatic fluff that we've seen in other shooters.

Spec Ops makes an admirable attempt to inject morality into a standard shooter experience. The narrative unravels at the end and the controls are subpar compared to the top-tier competitors, but the journey into madness is unlike anything I’ve played before.

Spec Ops: The Line is one of the most interesting military shooters we’ve played. It’s heavily story-driven and it’ll engage you through the 6-8 hour campaign. You’ll question everything at the end, including your own judgments, and you’ll no doubt feel compelled to play again—that’s always a complement for a shooter.
