Saint Seiya: Brave Warriors is fun enough for the occasional match, but there wasn't anything that held my attention for too long. I'd go as far as to say I've enjoyed it more than the various Naruto and Dragonball titles I've reviewed in the past (not that it says much), but it's still only the occasional "pick up with certain friends" kind of title with the same warning as the rest. If you remember and appreciate the anime and manga, you'll have fun.

With its limited depth, Brave Soldiers can't hold its own against more technical fighters on the market, and the tedium and lackluster presentation of the story mode won't give anyone who's not already a fan of the series much of a reason to become one. But if you were one of those kids who grew up with this series--or perhaps discovered it many years later when the English editions finally began rolling out in the early aughts--then you'll find a lot of nice fan service to enjoy here.

With this classic anime and manga series turned fighting game arriving in North America for the very first time, Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers displays enough fan service and superb visuals to put it on fan’s wish list just in time for Christmas. Nonetheless, over time this game might be a bit too boring and repetitive for diehard fighting game fans. In the end if you’ve always wondered about the Saint Seiya series and enjoy an easy and simplistic fighting game, you might want to give this game a shot.
