Thus, while NBA Live 10 is big step forward gameplay-wise, it's a shame there's not more to glean out of that gameplay. Hopefully EA are virtually done with the actual gameplay engine now, and are ready to look into taking that engine forward into a more compelling scenario with next year's edition. Having said that, basketball fans will get more than their money's worth out of the single player and typically solid online modes on offer here.

NBA Live 10, while it certainly has issues that people are going to gripe about, is exactly what the series needed to fire up its dwindling fan base and add new players alike. The gameplay is nicely refined and emulates real basketball with much greater success than past games. I expect NBA Live 11 to really step up and deliver more than this year's game did in terms of modes. Couple some sort of career mode with the smooth gameplay and the next entry in the Live series could steal the crown away from 2K Sports.

NBA Live 10 won't change the way you play digital basketball, but it's a good representation of the sport. Playing through a Dynamic DNA-enhanced season is engaging, letting you live through the peaks and valleys of the real season. There are a few quirks in the action, such as a glitchy ball and sometimes-disinterested teammates, but the action is pretty sharp.
