The NBA2K series is again at the top of its game with this latest installment. It is a glorious experience into the realm of professional basketball that should not be missed. Whether you create a rookie to take through the paces, or start off with a professional team in season play, you will not find a more enjoyable basketball game on PlayStation 3.
No sports game has ever made me this excited to play. Seriously it's all I've been able to think about for the last week. The realistic, challenging, gorgeously animated gameplay carries across a cornucopia of modes. Playing legends of the past, the stars of today, and my own personal NBA rookie are all different flavors of f#$%ing rad. Any one of these modes would be reason enough to purchase the game, but all of them together make for a game that any basketball fan has to pick up.
Last year's NBA 2K11 opened up with Michael Jordan's entrance from the tunnel to the adulation of the Chicago Stadium crowd and the flavor of the entire game was tinted red as you guided His Airness through his storied career. The experience was special for a sports game, and while 2K12 offers many improvements on the various modes, I never felt so engaged. NBA 2K12 is an excellent game, but it just doesn't capture the magic of an overall theme like its predecessor did.
