I really wanted to like Murdered: Soul Suspect more than I did. The graphics are awesome. The voice actors do a fantastic job. The environments are interesting, especially when you see the ghostly versions of old Salem overlapped over the modern day version. The story is genuinely interesting and kept me playing far after the fun had drained out of the game. But in all honesty, I cannot recommend it. With a couple tweaks, this could have been an awesome game, but as it stands Murderer: Soul Suspect is dead on arrival.

On every level, then, Murdered throttles its premise. Much as it saddens us, given the promise of seeing a 3D Ghost Trick, we pronounce this dead on arrival.

Murdered basically has close to no replayability if you go through the game carefully from the beginning. Its side quests and collectibles, and even its main narrative, are stories you’ll go through once and not feel compelled to replay. But it is a smart game the first time round, mainly because it is set in Salem and actually uses the city’s history to its advantage.
