The next installment in the popular Tekken franchise finally has a release date. Tekken 8 will launch on January 26, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Developer Bandai Namco revealed key details about the highly anticipated fighting game in a new trailer. Tekken 8 will feature the franchise's largest roster yet with 32 unique playable characters. The trailer also announced the return of six favorites with updated looks and moves: Kuma, Leo, Shaheen, Yoshimitsu, Steve, and Dragunov.
The game utilizes current-gen hardware for what Bandai Namco calls “the most visually stunning” Tekken game yet. Tekken 8 also introduces a new offensive combat system rewarding aggressive tactics for spectacular fights.
An all-new single player Arcade Quest mode aims to appeal to franchise veterans and newcomers alike. Players can create a custom avatar, visit, and compete in matches within the game’s in-game arcades. Deeper customization options give players more control over characters' looks and fighting styles than ever before.
Tekken 8 is now available for pre-order on consoles and PC in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions.
- Standard Edition will include the base game and Paul Phoenix avatar costume. PS5 players will receive Mokujin and Tetsujin avatar skins.
- Deluxe Edition comes with everything the Standard Edition offers plus the “Playable Character Year 1 Pass” that unlocks four characters and the Kinjin avatar skin. It also includes the “Gold Suit Pack” costumes for all 32 characters.
- Ultimate Edition includes all content and bonuses of Deluxe, with avatar skins for Kazuya, Jun, and Jin. Also included are 32 patterns of classic TEKKEN shirt sets that players can use to customize their avatars.
Fighting game fans have awaited details on Tekken 8 for years since its announcement. The January 2024 release date and details on new modes and fighters delivers the long-teased next evolution of the beloved franchise.
