Speed Crew, a multiplayer game where players become pit crew members, is heading to Nintendo Switch consoles.
In a press release, developers from Wild Fields announced that they would release Speed Crew on June 8 on Nintendo's eShop. They added that the upcoming game will also be made available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation within 2023. Wild Fields is an independent gaming studio based in Ukraine. Speed Crew is their first major title.
In Speed Crew, a team of four players becomes a pit crew. Like real-life pit crew members, their objective is to diagnose car issues and fix them before time runs out, developers said.
The game is designed to encourage cooperation and focus as you diagnose car issues,
they explained. [Players] use a variety of tools to make repairs, and navigate the dynamic, hazard-filled pit lane to get your driver back on track,
they added.
Wild Fields has also dropped a trailer, weeks ahead of Speed Crew's launch on Switch. Based on the 1-minute video, players can expect retro themes and soundtracks in a colorful, 3D art world.
The primary campaign in Speed Crew takes players to four racing championships that span up to four decades. Hence, the 70s and 80s vibes are showcased in its trailer. The gameplay, on the other hand, has 48 levels. At each level, teams must fix cars amid a chaotic day at the race. In addition, the game also allows players to customize their vehicles and characters.
Meanwhile, Wild Fields promised to bring more content after Speed Crew's debut on Switch. [There will be] planned updates and DLCs with additional levels and game mode in the future,,/ they said.
