Sony announced the slimmer and lighter model of the PlayStation 5 in a blog posted today. It will be available in select stores across the US in November; global rollout is expected in the following months.
As with the original release, this model comes in two forms: the Digital Edition ($449.99) and the one with a Blu-Ray Disc Drive ($499.99). This time, however, if you purchase the Digital Edition, you can buy a separate Blu-Ray Drive for $79.99.
The announcement also introduced a new product, a metalic-ish vertical stand that's compatible with all PS5 models. You can get for $29.99.
The video that accompanied the announcement did not include a side-by-side comparison. Although it did say that this new model is 30% slimmer and 18% and 24% lighter than the originals.
