Grinding Gear Games Breaks Records with Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas

Grinding Gear Games latest expansion Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas has just become the most successful expansion of the series so far, setting the record for the most simultaneous players at launch. Their launch last January 15 netted 265,250 players at the same time, becoming the 4th most popular game on Steam that day.

It has only been ten days since Echoes of Atlas' release, but it has caused an uptick in player numbers—11% higher than the Delirium expansion's launch in March during the height of the global lockdown.

For a game that was first released in 2013, Path of Exile has had a pretty consistent player base over the years and it’s still considered one of the largest online action RPGs today.

This consistency in quality and content releases reflects well on the ethos and methodology that Grinding Gear games has. With an upcoming sequel, Path of Exile 2, coming this year, it's ever more important to show that the developers will continue to push the envelope for the series.

Path of Exile is available on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out our list of Upcoming Xbox One Games and Upcoming PS4 Games for a closer look at what's coming in 2021.
