Overpass, the offroad racing game from Nacon, will get a sequel. The French video game publisher has announced the development of Overpass 2. They have also targeted an October release for the game. It will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Nacon said.
Overpass 2 will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 19 October 2023,
they wrote in a press release.
The first game in the series, Overpass, arrived in 2019, but it faced a lukewarm reception and garnered mixed reviews from gamers and critics alike. They praised the game's visuals and mechanics. However, they found its gameplay short of the high-octane experience associated with racing titles. With Overpass 2, Neopica Studios raises the bar, promising a better gaming experience with more content and improved mechanics. The sequel to Overpass will integrate insights from player feedback on the original game, they added.
We are working hard to recreate the terrain physics, vehicle behavior, and the authentic sensations of this very technical sport, said Peter Vermeulen, Managing Director at Neopica.
Alain Falc, CEO of Nacon, also said fans of the racing genre could expect a more challenging game with Overpass 2. Overpass introduced this demanding sport to fans of off-roading and motorsports in general,
explained Falc. The game was very challenging to play, and we really wanted to go even further with the concept,
he added.
Nacon and Neopica Studios, an indie development team based in Belgium, have revealed several details about Overpass 2. The upcoming game will have 37 vehicles, 31 circuits, five environments, and three categories. It also features multiple race modes, including a "much deeper career mode," the gaming companies said.
