Bad detective work is welcome in Frogwares upcoming open-world adventure, Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, according to their recent 5-minute Q&A video on their official Youtube channel.

Addressing a question from fan Giuseppe Pirozzi about whether players will be free to make mistakes and declare the wrong person guilty, Frogwares compared the new experience with their successful 2014 title Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments.

"In each main quest you’ll have several different suspects, and usually you can make deductions that either of them could be responsible for the crime. It depends on how many clues you have found, and how you interpret their context and piece them together.” Frogwares continues with, “it’s possible to fail your investigation, but the story will go on regardless."

This bodes very well for the open-world experience of the new Sherlock-based title, and it works with the game's premise of Sherlock building up his detective cred in his early days.

The 5-minute Q&A covered more fan questions about quests, endings, and costumes. You can find the complete transcript of the video on their website.

Frogwares has had a spotty history of titles, with their last two games, The Sinking City and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, described as promising games with poor execution. Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will hopefully be a refinement of that.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2021. Find more games in our updated lists of Upcoming PS4 Games and Upcoming Xbox One Games.
