On May 29, publisher Hooded Horse dropped another trailer for Falling Frontier. It showed the developers' progress so far for the upcoming game. The video also revealed snippets of in-game combats for the first time.
The newest trailer ran for approximately six minutes. It teased gamers with brief footage of Hano-class destroyer ships battling around Saturn. Falling Frontier, a space-themed RTS developed by Stutter Fox Studios, focuses on ship design, recon, and logistics. Players conquer a vast procedurally generated star system, customize their fleet, disrupt supply lines, and explore uncharted territory.
In a separate press release, Hooded Horse confirmed that changes and new items would be heading to Falling Frontier. Discerning viewers should be able to spot a host of new changes as part of the recent combat rework,
they said.
Developers decided to overhaul its combat mechanics, the indie game publisher said. Furthermore, they made improvements in ship movement mechanics and damage models. Players can also expect missile "more optimized" tracking and countermeasures. Aside from combat controls, Stutter Fox Studios will also introduce new features to the game. These included tactical-slow motion and a free-range orbital camera.
Meanwhile, producers of Falling Frontier announced their partnership with artist Aleksandre Lortkipanidze. Lortkipanidze recently joined the team and will take charge of the game's visual designs.
New frigate models with faction variants are next on his hit list, so keep an eye out for their arrival later this year,
they added.
Falling Frontier is considered one of the highly anticipated titles for this year. Players will find themselves in a post-apocalyptic solar system. To survive, they must build and command fleets of spaceships to fight for control of the remaining resources.
The game is still scheduled for Early Access release this year.
