Motion Twin and Evil Empire had found a hit when they released the side-scrolling action game, Dead Cells back in 2018, and now 2 years later (with 3.5 million copies sold), the studios are announcing an upcoming DLC expansion set to release early 2021.

Here’s the reveal for Dead Cells: Fatal Falls:

Fatal Falls is set to introduce 2 new biomes to the game, The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores. Players will also get the chance to fight against new bosses as well as get access to new items—details of which will come out sometime soon.

Fatal Falls will go for $4.99 when it comes out—the same price of the game’s first DLC, The Bad Seed, which came out earlier this year.

Though Dark Souls may be the flagship franchise for the hardcore gamers, Dead Cells brings a fun retro twist with its side-scrolling action akin to that of Metroid and the classic Castlevania.

Winner and nominee for dozens of Game of the Year 2018 awards, Dead Cells is a critically-acclaimed roguelite metroidvania action platformer set within an unpredictable castle packed with dark secrets, game changing items and hordes of deadly beasts. Players face tough risk-reward decisions, building their loadout from an incredibly diverse arsenal of weapons and abilities in the hopes of dodging the castle’s omnipresent threat of permadeath. A steady series of post-launch updates addressing fan feedback has evolved Dead Cells, keeping its action-centric adventure as surprising as it is rewarding.

Dead Cells is now playable for Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Fatal Falls has no specific release date, but comes out sometime early next year.
