Destructive Creations' twin stick murder simulator, Hatred, is a controversial game in itself, but its upcoming Switch release is also stirring things up.
This move to the Switch was announced on their official twitter account last April 11.
Hatred is a shoot 'em up first released on the PC in 2015 with a trailer inviting players into a "genocide crusade," playing the villain which kills civilians and law enforcement in violent ways.
It was removed from the Steam Greenlight service for a while before it was reinstated with a personal apology from Valve co-founder Gabe Newell.
Hatred is awarded with an Adults Only (AO) rating. With Nintendo's history with AO-rated videogames like Manhunt 2, it remains to be seen whether the devs or the console manufacturer will make adjustments to accommodate it.
Right now, its score on the PC isn't too impressive. But, while its criticscore is an abysmal 4.86, it did better with gamers where it scored a 7.73. So while it might be a controversial game to get on the console, its gory violence may be an acquired taste.
