Everything about X-Blades is mediocre. It works for what it is, and there's some charm to the action and the characters, but the gameplay design is lacking in ingenuity; a notion that is perpetuated the longer you play. Some will be able to find more enjoyment with X-Blades than I, but most will likely wind up walking away before the adventure is over.
By no means a terrible effort, but X-Blades has too many problems to ignore, especially with plenty of better alternatives available on each platform.
X-Blades is a beautiful, action-packed title with some serious flaws. It isn't really the kind of game you'll want to sit down and play for many hours on end, yet some of the repetitiveness can be remedied by putting the controller down for a while and returning when you've got the urge for some senseless violence and skimpy outfits. Despite finding quite a few things that proved substantially irritating at different moments, the battle-heavy action does indeed scratch an itch.
