Victor Vran is a solid action-RPG, no doubt about it. I was hoping for more depth and permanence in the skill system like you might find in more traditional RPGs, but I can appreciate the choices the developers made given the core mechanic of the game: fast-paced combat with a variety of weapons and enemies. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of action-RPGs with more of a focus on combat and less on character building.

Overall, the gameplay was just as fun as the last time I played. The story fell flat but honestly the voice acting was superb enough for me to not loathe hearing the characters talk. The multiplayer didn’t feel as if it was stapled on as an afterthought—the arenas are more than enough to hold up that argument. I wholeheartedly recommend waiting for a sale to nab this gem at a discount, but if you aren’t scrambling for spare change like me, then perhaps the $19.99 price isn’t an issue.

There are problems with just about every aspect of Victor Vran. The issues range from small to large, from the glitches to frequent crashes and audio cutouts. Still, there’s a lot to enjoy about it. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but the entertaining combat, above all else, is what would get me to return and burn away more hours hunting the creatures of the night. The lack of content and variety is a concern, though this may be alleviated with the planned free DLC.
