Bloodlines feels very much influenced by the classic role-playing game Fallout, which is to be expected since developer Troika was founded by members of the Fallout team. Bloodlines presents a very interesting world to explore and memorable characters to interact with, and the open-ended nature of many of the quests allows you to tackle the game in multiple ways. So if you can look past the clunky combat and other shortcomings, you'll find that there's a rich world to explore in Bloodlines, a role-playing game that ultimately allows you to indulge your inner vampire.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a much stronger game than the previous one in the series. It does the genre right, with character choices that effect the world, dialogue choices that effect your fate, and plenty of things to do and places to poke around in. Replayability lies in the widely varied character design options, since the story is pretty linear, multiple endings notwithstanding. Unfortunately, the AI has the intelligence of a doorknob sometimes, which keeps the shine off an otherwise delightful and multilayered experience.

From downright creepy to challenging, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines has an immersive story and maintains a foreboding tone throughout. There may be a few graphical glitches, and the story is linear, regardless of the approach afforded by the different clans, but this is a solid addition to the Vampire series. The game looks good, and the sound really does a superlative job of underscoring the graphical tone of the game.
