The fact this game exists is a GD miracle. Sure it's aged at this point and that can be felt pretty obviously in the avatars and NPC's but the environments can be breath taking.

The fact that this adaptation stayed faithful to the books and didn't go overboard on the magic is a major factor that has helped lead to its longevity. It has so many whales that continue to come back because it is BY FAR the closest thing we have to taking a stroll in middle earth.

You can start this game in Hobbiton and stroll right on up and walk into Mordor, beyond and everything in between. you can battle wargs atop your steed in the fields of Rohan or help guard the borders of the woodland realm in Mirkwood, or get lost exploring the depths of Moria.

The stories are phenomenal and lend themselves to the source material incredibly well. They're intricately woven in seamlessly whenever they expound on ideas.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Mordor is good and full of great ideas, iconic moments and intense hours of questing. But the expansion as a whole is dragged down by its own weight, making the whole package feel a little lackluster in the end.

With Turbine's long-standing MMORPG expertise powering proceedings and one of the most welcoming communities in gaming, LOTRO presents a stunning and evocative world of Tolkien magic to explore - if you're any kind of fan, it would seem pretty much an essential purchase. LOTRO seems destined to become the next big MMORPG contender and we've no hesitation in saying prepare to make your move to Middle-earth - we'll see you there.

Despite belonging to a playing field overrun by fantasy geeks and diehard online-RPG veterans, LOTRO reverses the trend of alienating casual gamers making the experience enticing and accessible to all. With a plenitude of adventures to undertake, crisp variations of time-tested MMORPG traditions, and a host of social and creative possibilities within the Lord of the Rings universe, LOTRO is undeniably hobbit-forming.
