There’s more charm and genuine human drama packed into these 120 minutes than most games manage in 20 hours. The final scene of this game neatly sets up the start of Life is Strange 2 and, based on this early slice, it’s going to be another gripping, accomplished story game. Can’t wait.

Dontnod didn’t necessarily need to make The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, but I’m really glad that it did. The role of Chris in Life is Strange 2 can only be speculated, but if he turns out to be an important figure than this short title gives us a more readily available connection to him. And even if he’s only a passing character we still get the feeling of a more realised world that Dontnod has created.

An intriguing taste for what's to come in Life is Strange Season 2. The series' formula shows its age here and there, but what shines, as ever, is sensitive writing, and an excellent setting.
