Summary
Celebrating the 25th anniversaries of two of Capcom's best franchises, Street Fighter X Mega Man is an 8-bit-style action blaster that pits the Blue Bomber against a slew of retro-ized SF mainstays acting as stand-in Robot Masters. Beat them and Mega Man acquires their powers so that he may tackle the next amazingly re-imagined boss.
This monumentous cross-over was produced Capcom along with designer Seow Zong Hui and 8-bit audio composer A_Rival.

It’s an iteration of the formula that made classic Mega Man shine – and it’s a good game – but it’s not what the most hardcore Mega Man fans clamoring for some love want. They want something fleshed-out and official. Instead, Capcom gave them something picked out of the fan community because the company wasn’t ready to deliver a product of its own.
While some may feel disappointed by a free PC download in lieu of a brand new game for either series, SFxMM still comes off as a greatly enjoyable game that fans of both series’ will find a lot to love. Though it’s short and strays away a bit from traditional Mega Man games, Street Fighter x Mega Man is a great play that you honestly have little reason not to experience.
Nothing should stop you from downloading Street Fighter X Mega Man and giving it a shot. After all, it’s free. Street Fighter X Mega Man pales in comparison to the rest of the classic entries, but it’s still a wonderful test of the waters for newcomers and a charming experiment for lifelong fans. I hope to see more Capcom-endorsed fan projects in the near future.
