In Planet Explorers, it is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explorer, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, build a new home.

Planet Explorers is still a unique sandbox crafting game with a few RPG elements, but when compared to the bigger games in the genre, like Ark or Rust, its faults are even more pronounced. That being said, the excellent building mode along with the well designed world help it stand up on its own. However, many elements feel so unpolished that it may as well still be in Early Access, but we're hopeful that post-release Pathea will keep iterating on their game as they have done in the last year or so.

Although a somewhat generic survival sandbox, Planet Explorers certainly had the potential to be a fun game... if only it was a complete one. Those who were here since the days of Early Access will definitely see the improvements, but this still has a long way to go.

It must be said that the game looks really good for a game made by a small studio and the soundtrack is way better than it has any right in being. Pathea Games have obviously put a lot of time, thought and love into this game and it really does show. If this had been from a Triple A developer there would have been a lot of buzz around this game.
