Lightmatter

There’s an unanswered mystery as to the player’s identity, teased at but never revealed in any kind of believable way, but in the end it’s not important. The player is in the right place to fix the lab when it all goes terribly wrong, surviving the puzzles all the way to the final semi-morally-ambiguous end. Whoever the player was at the start, they’re the ones who have to deal with the consequences of Lightmatter.

Lightmatter is a breath of fresh air to the easily forgettable puzzle genre. The game is an impressive package of well-crafted puzzles, gorgeous art style, and incredible sound design. Lightmatter requires players to forge their paths by illuminating dark areas using strategic use of lights and avoiding the deadly shadows.

Lightmatter kicks off the year with a strong Portal inspired puzzle adventure with some really unique mechanics. Even though it lacks that much needed layer of polish, I would recommend this to puzzle game fans and casuals.
