Great for first time VR players but very boring to experienced ones.

If you’re willing to throw down the price for a VR headset, you need to fun things that quickly show off the concept. In that sense Job Simulator is a bit like when your dad bought Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells for his first CD player. Slick and lovely, but ultimately you’ll move onto something more substantial.
I can’t deny the fun and novelty of the experience, but the entertainment fades quickly. Popping in for a few minutes to dump an energy drink on an engine or make fire-extinguisher soup is funny, but that’s as deep as the experience goes. The laid-back toybox structure means that I was never under pressure, but I was also never challenged or engaged beyond VR’s universal joy of inhabiting a digital space.
This is the form of VR playfulness that is at the heart of Job Simulator. It's very simple and elegant, and facilitates the comical joy of putting on a VR headset for the very first time. Though it must be said, Job Simulator is not the kind of game you'd want to play with for long periods at a time, and those who expect any kind of story or narrative will find none of that here.
