I Hate Running Backwards is a fast-paced infinite runner hybrid that puts the shoot ’em up genre on its head! Pick your character and blast away at enemies with a high powered weapons arsenal. Earn perks and get stronger as you defeat challenging bosses. Sam and friends get stuck in the mixed space-time continuum and fight across different time periods, all in one single crazy run! The game has potential and is loaded with a bunch of memorable characters, but it has general design flaws that are tough to overlook. I haven’t even mentioned how there are daily runs, but playing an even harder version of an already difficult game doesn’t really hold much value for me. Maybe if you like cutting your teeth on absurdly difficult shooters, this will be for you.
I Hate Running Backwards isn’t very deep. There’s no story to speak of and you’re not going to spend endless hours exploring its world. But it doesn’t claim to do that. Instead, it’s a fun, classic arcade style game that is surprisingly addictive. If it wasn’t for that spike in difficulty during the boss battles, it would be a great game for anyone. But don’t let that deter you.
I Hate Running Backwards est une proposition correcte qui reste fidèle aux sources du jeu vidéo : on base tout sur le gameplay avec des principes simples, mais qui ont fait leurs preuves. Le résultat est un jeu sans prétentions, mais qui vous occupera des heures durant, à la fois en solo et entre amis. Dommage qu'il n'ait pas été encore fignolé un peu avec des modes de jeu plus larges et notamment des modes classiques en ligne.
