FlatOut 2, while not a major improvement over the first game, is still a quality demolition racer. The addition of more content in each and every mode is certainly a plus, and the driving still has a satisfyingly destructive vibe to it. It's just too bad that it doesn't have the same quirky, filthy vibe as the first game. Fortunately, there are still plenty of lovable qualities to be found in FlatOut 2, especially if all you want is the same basic racing gameplay as in the first FlatOut, but with a lot more of it.

FlatOut 2 is one of the most chaotic racing games ever made. Whether you’re playing on or offline, you’ll be lucky if you can last two minutes on the track without eating twisted metal. But at the same time, half the fun is restarting each race without a clue as to what the course is going to throw at you, literally. If you like your racing games simulation-heavy, there isn’t enough customization here to keep you busy. But if you like to get dirt rubbed in your face, and then return the favor, we’ll see you at the starting line

There's not exactly a flood of quality racing titles being released at the moment, so FlatOut 2's quality is really appreciated. The single-player Career won't take all that long to complete, but with a hugely entertaining multiplayer mode both on and offline, there's a good chance you'll continue playing for a while after. It's bound to get old eventually, but FlatOut 2 should offer a few good months of fun, to all but the most die-hard racing simulation lovers.
