Kinda childish style on the game but the story on the other hand was very mature and did give a good treatment. Awesome piece of work from Square Enix here.

Final Fantasy IX PC is a fine port of an extraordinary game. While the backgrounds are often an eyesore, the gameplay, characters, and charming story of the original hold up and then some. Final Fantasy IX is a must play entry in the RPG genre, and this new version is the best way to experience the magic of the best PS1 Final Fantasy game.
Final Fantasy IX for PC is surprisingly well done for a sixteen year old port. Square Enix could have simply just thrown together something with little effort, but instead what we’ve received is a far better experience. With that said, it’s still not a perfect port as we ran into at least one controller related issue, and the pre-rendered background art can be hard to look at at times.
I can very confidently say that it’s the definitive version of the game (not that the mobile port is hard to beat), and with asking price, replayability, and nostalgia all considered, Square Enix’s latest classic remodeling is exceedingly difficult not to recommend.
