BOOR‘s storyline, while not exactly epic, will keep you invested in your lone character’s fate and, to a lesser extent, the fate of the planet’s other inhabitants. That said, your impetus for playing will always be the drive to solve the game’s taxing yet rarely frustrating puzzles. And while it’s packed with enough content to support a mid-priced game, BOOR is being sold at a budget price.

I enjoyed BOOR, or at least I did, until Room 82 – which I assume is pretty close to the end. The required level of finesse and patience required to beat this room is just absurd and ultimately prevented me from finishing the game. It’s disappointing that more effort wasn’t made to balance the difficulty to provide a more fluid experience.

For those looking for the kind of wind-me-down indie title that can still rustle up a good, nuanced frustration from time to time, BOOR will meet that demand (if not exceed it) without letting its potential annoyances get in the way or become the focal point. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to find in this brief puzzle-platformer that warrants the case a bulk of the developer’s true focus was really, truly invested that deeply.
