Great shooter game but not much else other than shooting down your enemies. Character abilities and weapons are amazing though. You can replay your favorite location but not much to do other than repeat the same missions and objectives which make it playing once enough. You can unlock different vehicles and skins and improve your weapons but beyond that there is just not much else.

This has likely started to feel like a litany of sins rather than cogent critique, but it’s the best way I have of illustrating Agent of Mayhem’s failings. It is not felled by any one thing, but is rather undone by a thousand little cuts. Agents of Mayhem heaps theoretical fun on you. Characters, powers, upgrades, tons of missions — it’s desperate to for the player to just have fun. It’s a noble impulse, but one that it’s depressingly incapable of consistently delivering on.

Agents of Mayhem delivers high-octane action with an enticing character progression system that has you tweaking and testing out fun and efficient upgrades in combat. Once the battle is over, however, you’re left to either wander a listless city out of the compulsory desire to complete every tedious task or grab a vehicle and drive 300mph to the next scripted objective simply to keep the adrenaline rushing.

Agents of Mayhem, then, isn’t perfect. Of course it isn’t; what game is? Despite its few missteps in repetition and a few bland design choices that stand out amidst a wash of personality, there’s no denying just how much fun this game is. It’s a game that leaves all seriousness behind; one that attempts to make you forget your real-world worries by bombarding you with crude language, irreverent humour and cheesy jokes that will make you roll your eyes (while secretly glowing with glee).
