Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey offers a beautiful and classic JRPG experience. Art, music and combat are all great. However, bugs, too little release content, and annoying save and inventory systems make for a less than stellar gaming experience. The game is reminiscent of The Legend of Dragoon and early Final Fantasy titles. It could be a good game to introduce the genre to those that are new to JRPGs, as well as those that want an authentic JRPG experience on mobile.
As it stands now, beautiful art and music plus great combat isn't quite enough to balance out those rough edges - but hopefully with time, and patches, it'll get there. This comes recommended with the caveats of its shortcomings above - but we hope to revisit a patched version or the PlayStation version and find it living up to its potential more in the future.
It's just all disappointing because Zodiac's such a gorgeous game. And the interface in combat is super-slick. And the Zodiac system is really cool to play with. But what Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey fails to do is to make the player want to keep playing it. It fails to capitalize on the strengths it has, preferring to draw itself out into a boring trudge rewards you with too few bright spots over far too long of a playing time.
