Worms 4 may irritate series purists, and it may intimidate newcomers a touch (its in-game tutorial and guide can use some work). Its server problems are disappointing, too. But if you approach it with an open mind, and if Team 17 applies a bit of polish, you may find this take-out version of Worms to your liking.
So, Worms 4 isn’t perfect and it offers a virtual d-pad rather than true touch controls, but it’s still charmingly fun. It's not as fun as the purist days of its original, but it works reasonably well on iOS. The campaign mode kept me suitably hooked and the daily challenges keep you suitably supplied with new content.
The campaign, with it's short-n-sweet and varied missions is a definite improvement, and the light weapon upgrade system is kinda neat. I'm not sure I love the new visuals yet, but it's still refreshing that they are trying something a little new in that area. Overall, there's some good and some bad, but--as I said--it's still Worms. You ready for war, big brother?
