The character models are impressive, the levels are dark and mysterious, and battles are legitimately fun most of the time. However, the constant repetition of the game’s format and the crippling loading faux pas bring this Contest down a few notches.
I think Contest Of Champions is actually a better game than the mobile version of Injustice, but it's not quite as kind to the player. If you're looking for a Marvel-flavored version of the DC brawler, this is probably close enough to satisfy you, and it might even pleasantly surprise you in some ways.
If you’re looking for complex moves or the kind of variety that wildly different fighters can provide, it will be too shallow to hold your interest for long. But if you’re just looking for something that’s fun and accessible, or have just been waiting for Marvel to give us an alternative to the DC-powered mobile version of Injustice: Gods Among Us, Contest of Champions is a super game to add to your collection.
Superheroes bashing one another in the face is certainly appealing in its own right, and the “gotta catch ‘em all” types will doubtlessly obsess over snagging their favorite heroes and watching their roster swell. It’s just a shame the actual fighting isn’t as much of a draw as it could be. But if you can get past that, Contest of Champions can provide a decent occasional distraction.
All comic book fans and other mobile gamers will have a good time playing this brawler. Many other reviewers gave it really high marks. My marks will be listed below, so check them out and check out this game if you are in the mood for a good, comic book character based brawler.
