It's a simple game where you just change the direction by tapping on the screen: forget about complex mechanics or unresponsive buttons. Besides that, Magic River introduces amazing graphics in a beautiful style that has been quite popular recently. Some people might not enjoy reflexes games as much as we do, so this won't look appealing to them. However, what happens with Magic River is that the difficulty is so high that it isn't really enjoyable and that is something that should be taken into account. If you can't make it pass one obstacle, how are you supposed to like it?
Magic River looks great, all colourful polygons and beautifully simple set pieces. The soundtrack is likewise sublime, and there are some humorous touches to the characters - a British Beefeater that paddles a red phonebox with his rifle, for example. Still, a floundering core mechanic means that there's not enough to save Magic River from ultimately capsizing. ...A good looking addition to the endless runner canon, but one that will frustrate more than entertain.
