Don't get me wrong. I had fun playing Fallout Shelter, and it's a great way to get my Fallout fix while waiting for the next installment. I just feel like certain aspects of the game could have been fleshed out more and that it should be more complex.
Fallout Shelter is at its best early on: when your fledgling vault is barely able to scrape by, and every raider attack has the potential to topple your fragile society. Once your vault is firmly established, all fear of losing, and thus the fun, fades away. Combine this with a lack of compelling longterm goals, and you have an experience that’s fun for a few days, but lacks long-term appeal.
Your best bet is to take the game with a pinch of salt, and that way you won’t find yourself getting frustrated at the lack of story development, or soundtrack for that matter. Fallout Shelter is available on Apples iTunes store—free to play—though as always there are in-game purchases you can make if you want extra loot. If you’re an Android user, you can expect Fallout Shelter to be with you in a couple of months.
