As a cohesive adventure, Prime World: Defenders is probably the most well-rounded tower defense game I’ve seen in awhile. Collecting tower cards is fun as always and there’s enough variety in terms of story and missions to keep you playing. It may not be the most original game in this day and age, but TD fans are familiar with such words. Suffice to say, if you are such a fan you owe it to yourself to check out Defenders.
While Defenders might be, at its heart, a fairly typical example of the genre, those card collecting elements and moments of deeper strategy go a decent way to making the experience feel a little different from the norm. It’s a fun ride, even despite its occasional overfamiliarity.
There's an awful lot of game on offer here - this is based on a full-scale PC release, after all. And if you're prepared to invest the time, then you'll be generously rewarded. However, there are issues with which to contend: the graphics often make it hard to see what's going on, and the core gameplay doesn't really deviate too greatly from the tried-and-tested tower defence template.
