Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction

I'm confident this strategic experience will find an audience craving a more thoughtful co-op shooter despite my criticisms and concerns. With excellent gunplay, awesome destructibility, a huge roster of playable characters, and a suite of well-designed stages, this experimental entry in the long-running military shooter franchise checks many of the right boxes. Rainbow Six Extraction might not be one of the best shooters on Xbox, but if you have some good friends and Xbox Game Pass, I'd highly recommend trying it for yourself.

Nobody Saves the World is a wonderfully weird action RPG where players can transform the pasty and pantsless humanoid, Nobody, into a colorful cast of characters with a mashup of abilities to overcome The Calamity.

With a surprisingly heartfelt story, witty and memorable characters, restlessly satisfying combat, in an expansive and well-optimized hand-crafted world — simply put, God of War is a must-play game.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE

Overall, the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise is superior to the Nintendo Switch version, thanks to the PC enhancements. It has some of the best combat mechanics in the Monster Hunter series, the new monsters are an absolute delight to hunt, and the improved frame rate and resolutions enrich the hunting experience. It does have a couple of flaws, but they are minor issues in the grand scheme of things.

Designed with the hardcore simmer in mind, Farming Simulator 22 continues to build upon the foundation of previous games in the franchise to provide a realistic open world where players can put their green thumbs to the test in a variety of agricultural industries.

Halo Infinite is familiar yet fresh, traditional yet novel — it's everything a veteran or a new player could ever want from a Halo campaign experience, and I can't recommend it enough. After spending a week with it, I can say it. combined with the free-to-play Halo Infinite multiplayer experience that recently launched on Halo: Combat Evolved's 20th Anniversary, makes for one of the best Xbox games ever made.

It hasn't been a smooth sailing journey for Sports Interactive (SI) and Football Manager. Many fans have complained about changes that have been applied to make the game appear more realistic at the expense of creating unnecessary bloat to the experience. I'm actually making a return with Football Manager 2022, having left the series in 2016 with less than 20 hours played on that version.

Battlefield 2042 has a strong core and has the potential to be one of the best games in the series. However, balancing quirks, performance issues, and some fundamental design decisions are holding it back from true greatness.

Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign and multiplayer are serviceable enough, but nothing exceptional for the series, while Zombies is disappointingly limited in scope and ideas.

Forza Horizon 5 is the culmination of all of Playground Games' efforts to perfect its craft, and the result is the best open-world racing game you can play. It combines the most beloved parts of Forza Horizon 3 and 4 into one ultimate racer.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water suffers from some dated design decisions and redundancies in level design, but the unique combat and evocative environments make this a worthwhile adventure for horror fans.

It also, finally, puts another truly epic superhero game on the Xbox, something Marvel fans especially have been craving. I'm not overselling it when I say this is easily my game of the year. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a triumph and a game that truly deserves to wear the famous red and white logo. It also brought a tear to my eye, make of that what you will.

Age of Empires IV

Age of Empires 4 builds greatly on the series' reputation that began in 1997. If you're a fan of RTS games, world history, or both, this should be an easy recommendation. With dozens of hours of campaign play, eight unique civilizations, hours of live docu-style video segments, and a ton of maps for skirmishes, there's no shortage of well-polished content to enjoy.

Echo Generation may frustrate some players with puzzles with their unorthodox solutions and backtracking. If you can get past those parts, you will find a fun, quirky, and sometimes dark RPG that will keep you guessing just what supernatural or extra-terrestrial being you will be fighting next.

Lone Echo II is a pristine example of how a sequel can be better than the original in every way. More mature and varied gameplay elements, impressive graphics, and a story that wouldn't feel out of the place in a novel make this the must-have swan song of the Rift platform.

I've been excited to play ever since I went hands-on with the Back 4 Blood beta this summer, and now that it's here, I'm confident in saying that Back 4 Blood is the "Left 4 Dead 3" that myself and many others desire. There are some things that disappoint me, but overall, Back 4 Blood is a bloody good time that any fan of Left 4 Dead (or any other co-op shooter) will love.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is brimming with fantastic characters, fun combat, and legitimate potential. However, limited content and a laundry list of bugs keep it from thriving as a platform fighter right now.

FIFA 22 adds some big improvements to the way the game functions, and better yet, makes the game feel even better as you play. Add to that some big changes to modes like Career Mode, and FIFA 22 is a huge improvement from past entries.

Astria Ascending's 2D puzzle platforming blended with turn-based combat and stunning art style does all the heavy lifting to keep players interested as the game's writing feels a bit generic.

Far Cry 6 doesn't do enough to stand out from its predecessors in my view, but that may well be a me problem. Ultimately, whether or not you'll enjoy this falls upon how bored you are of Ubisoft's format. If you loved Far Cry 5 and want more of the same, you'll probably love Far Cry 6.

Alan Wake Remastered

This remaster doesn't go quite as far as I'd have liked in some ways but the core story remains riveting and the gameplay holds up. There's a lot of Xbox games dropping this fall but if you've never played Alan Wake before, or you're a veteran pondering a return trip to Bright Falls, this isn't one to miss.

With its striking art direction, haunting soundtrack and focus on exploration, Sable is a great journey about understanding yourself. Frequent stuttering and some bugs bring the experience down though.

Lost Judgment is a great mystery game with the signature Yakuza flair. If you're a fan, or even if you're not, you'll have a fun time with this game despite its dark subject matter.

Aragami 2 is a fun stealth-action game armed with an abundant variety of ninja killing skills and tools which are sure to please fans of the genre, especially in co-op. However, the monotonous missions, low-production quality cutscenes, and slightly clunky combat system may cause a modicum of annoyance for some.
