About this game

Content Rating: Everyone
Rather than make a direct sequel to their bite-sized 2D action game Mighty Gunvolt from 2014, Inti Creates has made the next installment in the Mighty Gunvolt series a brand new full-sized game that features characters from multiple universes with Gunvolt (Azure Striker Gunvolt) and Beck (Mighty No. 9) taking the stage once again, but in a much deeper and more expansive world that differs greatly from the original in many ways.

Gunvolt’s not going to win any prizes for originality and it’s certainly not the most well optimised game to come out. It’s tough – teeth grindingly so at times – and it can be sadistic in its execution, but there’s never a point where you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel and a whole range of other optimistic clichés. This sort of game isn’t for everyone, but those hankering for a bit of Megaman action who felt let down by Mighty Number 9 may find a hero to get behind here.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst combines the better aspects of Beck's disastrous first outing and wraps them up in a compact retro-styled package, with a Gunvolt ribbon tied around for good measure. A solid run-and-gun 2D platformer that adds flair and function to the wheel rather than reinventing it completely, but often hits the road bumps named accessibility and hardware adaptiveness.
