Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D emulates one of the best games ever adeptly, and if you’re a Nintendo fan that never owned any of the previous systems it appeared on, it’s worth exploring. However, if you have the Subsistence version for PS2 or last November’s MGS HD Collection (which costs the same as this 3DS remake), MGS3D isn’t a superior replacement.

...the tightest, smartest and most emotional journey in the series – and even its HD update doesn’t look as good as this portable treatment.

It all results in a game with 9.5/10 ideas delivered in a 6/10 package. If you already own the original, or if you aren't keen on playing Snake Eater on a portable, then there is no reason to pick it up again. If you do want the game on the go, you may be better off waiting for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on the PS Vita.
